She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master of Science degree, Food Technology/Quality Assurance from University of Reading, United Kingdom.

The Registrar is the Chief Executive Officer in charge of the day-to-day activities of the Council. In the office of the Registrar, there are four offices called Units under the direct supervision of the Registrar/CEO, in addition to Technical and Special Assistants.

The Registrar’s Profile

 Mrs Veronica Nkechi Ezeh is the pioneer Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Council of Food Science and Technology (NiCFoST). She was born on July 21, 1960 and hails from Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State. She attended Marymount College Agbor, Delta State and graduated in 1977. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science and Technology from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka and a Master of Science Degree in Food Technology/Quality Assurance from the University of Reading, Reading, United Kingdom. She joined the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) as student members. She was upgraded to Fellow of NIFST in 2015.

Mrs Ezeh started her career as a public servant in the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) in 2004 as Assistant Chief Scientific Officer. In 2010, she transferred her services to National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) as Chief Regulatory Officer and later promoted to Deputy-Director in 2012. In 2015, she was deployed to head the newly created Food Safety and Applied Nutrition Directorate. She was the Head of the Secretariat of the National Food Safety Management Committee, a Committee created to address the incessant food safety issues in Nigeria in the absence of a legal instrument for checkmating the activities of food handlers in Nigeria. 

She is a qualified Lead Auditor and has inspected over eighty food companies both in Nigeria and abroad. She is well vast with Codex Alimentarius activities and was always one of the Nigerian delegates to the International Codex Committee meetings. She is quite knowledgeable in HACCP with strong bias for food safety. She has attended over twenty five training programmes in food and related disciplines nationally and internationally. 

As staunch member of NIFST, she became the secretary of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Abuja/FCT Chapter in 2007. She was a member of the Task Force for the pursuit of NIFST Council Charter that led to the successful passing of the Nigerian Council of Food Science and Technology Bill by both the House of Representatives and Senate of the 6th National Assembly and the final signing of the Bill into law in 2019. She was a Vice-Chairman of FCT Chapter of NIFST and later the Chairman of FCT Chapter of NIFST in 2018.
